Summary:
Wei Wuxian heads towards the Dafan Mountains. He runs into bratty kid Jin Ling, who has been accidentally trapping cultivators in his spirit nets. Wei Wuxian gives him a smackdown, and Jiang Chen shows up to defend him. Elegant Lan Wangji and the Lan Clan appear and block the attack.At Tiannu Temple, a dancing statue comes to life and attacks the Jin and Lan clan juniors. Wei Wuxian summons Wen Ning, the Ghost General, to defeat the dancing statue, which tips both Lan Wangji and Jiang Chen off to his identity. Lan Wangji is delighted; Jiang Chen not so much.
Wei Wuxian enters a flashback to them as teens, and this flashback will last for over half the series. In the flashback, happy family Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng and their older sister Lanli Cheng all arrive in Gusu to head to the Lan Clan for training.

- Xuan Lu, the actress who plays Jiang Yanli, is the oldest of the group, followed closely by Yu Bin (Wen Ning), then Xiao Zhan (Wei Wuxian). Qi Peixin (Jin Ling) is the same age as Wang Yibo (Lan Wangji) and Wang Zhuocheng (Jiang Chen).
